I have a new steam deck OLED. I’ve tried remote play but every game I’ve tested looks dark. The colors just don’t seem quite right. I’ve already tried some of the common suggestions like disabling hardware encoding, enabling NVFBC on the nvidia GPU, disabling HEVC video.

I tried moonlight/sunshine but that doesn’t seem to work for me. When I launch a game on my steam deck, it launches on my computer but then moonlight doesn’t seem to wait long enough for it to launch and says to make sure I don’t have DRM content playing.

Any ideas?

Have you made those settings on the deck itself or the computer you’re streaming from? It should be fixed if you go into the deck settings under remote play, and disable hardware decoding (not encoding)

That did it! Now the steam and overlay button doesn’t work. I think others reported that as well. It’s such a shame that this bug exists. You’d think it would be a top priority. Surely disabling hardware decoding wastes a lot of extra battery as well.

Was extra dark for me as well, I was pretty sure I was seeing some pretty extensive compression effects as well,

Overall a far worse experience than playing native with lower settings/framerate. Also much worse than using something like Parsec on Desktop.
