App-profile pairing on Intel extreme tuning utility

I have a laptop with high specs that drains the battery quickly. So I made a new profile on XTU to enhance battery life.

I linked some apps to my new profile when on battery power. The aim is to switch to this new profile automatically when I running that app on battery power.

Do I have to launch XTU for this to work? Like do I have to set XTU to launch at startup ?
