Got my 512 OLED yesterday, i noticed my fan speed ramps up and down (50 - 60⁰C) in idle mode (just surfing through Steam libraries and menus). Fan ramps up about every 15 seconds, the fan itself is pretty quiet but it makes a weird sound when it ramps up, sound like a smal zipper. Which is pretty annoying. First i thought i was the speaker crackling, but its 100% the fan.

The fan is pretty quiet, even at high speeds but its the zipper sound that bothers me when it ramps up from 0. Anyone something similar?

My OLED deck has the same issue. Zipping sound when the fan turns on. I am going to ignore this issue …

Not sure if it’s the same issue, but mine makes an occasional faint electric noise (like an old hard drive being read) every once in a while. Not sure if that’s the fan or some other component. I just know my LCD model never did this. It’s not causing any performance issues or stuttering at all though.

I have the same issue, it is ridiculous, how much I worry about it instead of just playing with the Deck. I think your zipper noise and the noise that mmiski (old hard drive being read) is describing are the same, as both descriptions fit what I am hearing, too. I think I will learn to ignore it or turn off the updated fan control. Not really interested in using tools like Fantastic via Decky Loader.

PS: Are startup animations briefly stuttering for you, too? Had this issue on my LCD already and kinda forgot about it, but it’s almost funny to still see this happening.

Yep. Fantastic doesn’t work atm. Maybe a new fan rev. from ifixit will do the trick. The Steam boot animations are fine.
