Interested to know what everyone does when they have a formal date or wedding etc. do you wear your Apple Watch as is? Switch a band out? Go watch less? Switch to a nicer watch (Swiss, seiko) etc.

I wear my AW during a wedding. The bride and groom does not want anyone taking out phones because it can cause distractions. My Apple Watch is cellular, so it’s not a problem for me

I’ll just swap in a more formal/conservative band if it seems warranted. It’s 2023 - it’s pretty normal to wear a smartwatch.

Could you give examples of places where smart watches/devices are not allowed? I’m not sure I can think of a situation apart from taking an official exam.

Certain government agencies have rooms that don’t allow devices in them. Source: spouse works for one of these agencies and has to leave Bluetooth devices before entering the space.

In rooms where sensitive information is being said in your not permitted any smart device unless it’s issued from your organization and that usually gets kept at location.

With the gold Milanese loop to match my case, my watch looks nicer/more luxurious than a lot of analog watches out there haha. The band makes a big difference

Yup but also the case material. For me (and apple marketing professionals probably) :

      SS+Milanese+analog= squared classic watch

      SS+Sport loop+loads of complications= premium sport watch

AL+milanese+analog= sportive guy (or girl) which also dresses formal

      AL+sport loop+complications= purely sportive Watch

That’s how apple probably meant it to push us to spend more on the SS since (imho) it looks better in every occasion.

The problem to me isn’t that much the price but rather the impossibility to swap the battery.

I have a nice leather band, matches my nicer belt and then I change up the face to be minimalistic.

I have an Apple Watch Ultra for diving (I’m a marine biologist) and working out, and a Series 9 stainless steel for other occasions.

If I was in the wedding party, I’d wear my Tag Heuer. Anything else and I’ll switch to the leather link band most of the time.

I have a SS watch and I normally use sport loops. For formal events I switch to a fitting SS or leather band

As others have commented, I swap the watch band for a more formal one. Usually leather or titanium band. I also tend to change the watch face to a more formal one as well just for aesthetics.
