I use part of my PTO cash out check to buy myself a new Steam Deck for my Christmas present.

I married a good one.

So, LE or Non-LE? Going with the 1tb because I love the antiglare screen.

I’ve got the opportunity to pick up on-call every week. About 15 hours per week of overtime comes up to $750 pre tax plus my on call pay of $180. So each two weeks I pick it up that’s $1500 in overtime plus $360 in on-call pay for a total of $1850 on top of my regular hourly rate for 80 hours in 2 weeks. If I take time off, I lose that overtime.

Gaben said that the limited edition would come back to stock, so if you want LE, can’t hurt to wait a bit.

That being said, the ce is literally just as good, barring the “special” feel

I’m torn between the 512gb and 1Tb model. Is the anti glare worth paying the extra for?

there is no definitive answer, but if you plan to play outside definitely the 1TB model (anti-glare).

here are some two videos of people comparing the screen, both reached different conclusions. video 1, video 2.

Yep OLED. Will mainly be used indoors - sofa at home and round at family and also in hotel rooms as I’ll be doing a fair amount of travel for work next year. The difference (in the UK) is £90

      1TB Model is great

      • Cost increase = same as 1TB SSD from Corsair/Sabrent without installing it yourself
      • Anti-glare screen is great. Can use it inside/outside no problems. If you want to use a screen protector on top, you can, keep it anti-glare. Diminishes the viewing quality slightly, but still great.

What you’re paying for ultimately is the SSD + Installation costs + built in anti-glare feature. You can’t feel the ‘etched’ screen whatsover, it’s part of the manufacturing process with laser that permits the anti-glare viewing.

I’d suggest taking your PTO and spending the time with your wife and daughter. Few people die wishing they worked more, and decompressing with the family is important.

I’ve got enough PTO to take off until February. Doesn’t mean I can take it. But i am taking a week off the endo of the year.

I may be misunderstanding you, but if you can’t take it, doesn’t that mean you don’t really have it? It’s effectively just a small pay bump for more hours away from the family.

I don’t understand why my earlier comment is downvoted. Taking time off is important. We like to tell ourselves we’re bullet proof, but we’re not. Hustle culture really is doing a number on us all. You can’t be on all the time, no matter how tough you are.
