I was trying to get metal gear rising to fit the full screen of 1280x800, and there’s no option in game. Forcing the resolution in preferences doesn’t change the resolution :( am I missing anything or is there like a decky add on that will force the resolution?

Use flawless widescreen for that game via steamtinkerlaunch.
Install steamtinkerlaunch using protonup-qt on discover store. then set the game compatibility to steam tinker launch. open main menu, game settings, tick flawless widescreen
