I have been seeing some people bring up the graininess in some dark scenes on their OLED devices. (https://www.reddit.com/r/SteamDeck/s/XfpqrGR1L8 ) Though Mura is a known issue with OLED displays, it can look worse than LCD at the degree it appears on our Deck OLEDS. I was running into the same grain in dark scenes and it was destroying detail in darker scenes as the grain appeared persistent and even.
The odd thing is, my grainy black scenes have gone away as of this morning.
Below you can see how it looked yesterday night when I noticed it and then how it looks now. The pictures were taken in different lighting environments but the grain was fully visible in a well lit room. The pictured black screen is from Lies of P, the moment the screen goes black right after pressing A to use a Stargazer.
Could this be a graphics driver issue? I restarted my device at the suggestion of a fellow member of this subreddit and the black screens remain inky and grainless. Elden Ring’s dark caves are inky OLED black as well. I am hoping this turns out to be driver or tuning error.
