I can afford both, but im not sure which to get. I’m leaning towards steam deck, since that one has the largest community so its easier to get support. The legion go being able to access windows is a bit tempting but i kinda wanna go steam deck because i only want it for gaming, not for anything more specific (such as what the ally or legion go can do)

For a handheld gaming console the deck is my preference. Have an LCD, OLED and Ally. Dock TV play I use a GTR7 Pro (7940hs with an 85 watt TDP) mini pc.

Bought the Legion Go last week and returned it the next day. Almost Identical performance as the Ally with a less polished UI and software experience. The screen is nice but not on par with the OLED.

Docked performance is just as disappoint as the Ally. The GTR7 Pro plays Starfield at a consistent 53 fps in the worst areas.

If you need Windows or are trying to use it as your primary PC then the Legion Go would be the best choice. Other than that the OLED would be my choice all around.
