I want to connect my device and transfer photos but this is an error message that I see, how do I view everything on my laptop?

Huh? The message explains exactly what the problem is: if you use iCloud Photos, you cannot see the photos via a cable. Instead, turn on iCloud Photo sync on your Mac, and your photos will automatically (but a bit slowly) download to your Mac from iCloud (this assumes you are using the same Apple ID on both your Mac and iPhone, though).
I want to transfer the photos from my iPhone to my MBP.
I have tried doing that, it does not work.
