Hi, perhaps this is a stupid question, so I apologize. I wasn’t able to find a definitive answer using google, so I’m turning to you guys.
My dad has had a number of Samsung TV’s and gear over the years and thus has som old remotes that he is used to. I want to buy him a new TV, but it comes with a modern remote that only has the one with the circle and no numbers and such. So will his old remote work with the new TV - this includes using the numbers to switch channelse, of course.

    Maybe, but probably not. the newer remotes work off of IR and wifi to control the TV. most older TVs only used IR. But Samsung isn’t terrible about backwards compatible devices.
