Hi all,

I bought a Z690 board to pair with the i7-14700K CPU to save $100 but I’m having second thoughts. Will I have any performance issues achieving the full RAM speeds? I believe the RAM is micron. I don’t have any plans to overclock RAM. Maybe the CPU.

Any compatibility issues? Should I shell out the extra cash to get a MSI Z790-A board instead (about 100 USD difference where I am)

At that speed Z690 vs Z790 shouldn’t make a difference. You might as well put that money towards Hynix RAM instead.

Should be fine. I have a MSI Z690 Carbon EK X+ 2x16gb Trident Z 6400mhz and will upgrade to 2x48gb same sticks.

I am running 6800 on msi z690 force with a 12700k but I am using the new hynix mdie 24Gb memory. With raptor Lake you may get 7000/7200 out of it but thats probably the limit of z690 4 dimm boards. I dont know about micron, they are generally not recommended.
