I can easily find proper power watt for combo of 13700k + 4080

or 13900k + 4090 ,

but I can’t find proper psu level for 14700k + 4080 (cause 14700k is newest one)

I heard that 14700k is similar with 13900k, so

does 850w is enough fot 14700k + 4080 combo?

or not enough?

Will coil whine appear when I go 850w?

should I buy 1000w?

Will teach you how to always determine the right answer for yourself.

Look at the component specs for power draw.

Only cpu and gpu matter. The rest you can estimate by leaving a 100-200W headroom above.

4080 will draw 300~ 14700 will draw up to 250~ overhead of 200~

    So get at least 750W.

In actual use cases, my 13900k never used above 100W even when uncapped. But your usage may vary. The games I play simply aren’t that demanding. cs2, for example.

When actually using your pc, you can also fix power limits if you prefer. I fix my 13900k at 100 and 4090 at 70% (200) when in use. Mainly to keep cpu temps under 70c and gpu under 60c while in use. Keeps my room from becoming a sauna.

I had a 850 for my 4090 and 13900k with no issues at stock speeds.

HOWEVER - When i started to overclock both - i found some instability with the GPU. Going to a 1kw knocked out any stability - and as a bonus, some coil whine dropped also.

You should be fine in other words for the setup you are thinking!

I am thinking of doing a similar build for Black Friday and was thinking of getting a Corsair 1000 watt plat plus hx 1000i PSU. It is atx 3.0 compliant and pcie 5.0 so it shouldn’t need an adapter for 4080?
