Why are Lenovo laptops better than Dell/Hp latops in the budget laptops category? Lenovo offers a better display(resolution and brightnes), a better battery, and better port collection for the same price(or less). While I couldn’t find a HP or a Dell laptop with FHD display under $450.

Are there compromises in Lenovo laptops that I’m not aware of? Maybe the build quality?

Your buying the name and actual warranty with Dell and HP. And the name is worth alot to some ppl. Going ultra budget sub$500 gets interesting on the compromise each company makes. Aluminum vs plastic chassis, shitty hinges, poor battery life or quality, and finally shitty display.

I don’t really have experience on the consumer side of it but on the business side their support is pretty good. Like with any laptops always get the comprehensive warranty in case shit goes wrong

I got the Lenovo Accidental Damage Protection and it was really good. At a certain point I accidentally closed the lid with a screw lying on the keyboard. Needless to say, the screen was broken.

I called them and it was fixed in 4 days, he even came to my house.

I say this as a prior service member and SysEng: Dell and HP are enterprise brands. Please stay away from them as an individual consumer.

Lenovo generally has good build quality and decent customer support. This all of course varies by region but they are certainly cheaper for the same performance (if not better).

The Ideapad 1 can be cheap, but the Ideapad 3 or 5 or Yoga line seem actually pretty good. I think sometimes they have fewer models. The HP laptops at hp.com seem to have an infinite number of different models.

I have had 2 or 3 Ideapad 3 or 5, and they all lasted around 3 to 4 years.

They still insist on screwing hinges into the plastic back display cover on their cheaper models, this leads to broken hinges.
