I love my SD. I enjoy all sorts of games but I get incredibly bored of roguelites etc after a few hours. Looking for a good story driven or immersive game that will be a better play on SD. For example, I know RDR2 can run on SD but I would much rather play that on my PC because of the graphics and mouse and keyboard. Are there any games that break this mold and are necessities for the SD?
Outer wilds. Not exactly story driven in the traditional sense, but by God you will never be more immersed
Chained Echos
I enjoy Baldur’s Gate 3 on my SD- the gamepad controls work really well. A more lighter game is Dave the Diver. The story and character are really fun.
Yakuza 0 has a great story and is old enough to run well on the deck.
MGS V has great gameplay and… A story. It runs well on deck
Agree with Yakuza. It’s arcade like combat is good for handheld, and it’s higher graphic enough to utilize the deck.
JRPGs. They’re everywhere and they run great on the Steam Deck.
Try marathoning the Legend of Heroes, kept me busy for 6 months.
South Park Stick of Truth 😂 yes seriously
Masterpiece
I finished Guardians of the Galaxy some time ago and I enjoyed it a lot, better story than the latest Guardians movie
Subnautica is on sale right now. It seems like a perfect SD game. I’m just a few hours in and I can tell it will be an obsession for a while.
Two I recently played and loved:
Alan Wake Remastered
Laika: Aged through blood
GTA 4 has an amazing story and of course a fantastic sandbox, run better on deck than windows and only takes up about 22 gigs of space
Supposed to be out today. Star Ocean Second Story R looks like it’s going to be really good.
One of my all time favorites. I’m very excited it is being released again!
The Last of Us
Starfield, I’m about 10 hours in and absolutely loving it. Runs great on Deck and couldn’t really imagine playing it anywhere else . You do need to like the genre if you want to enjoy it though, can imagine why a lot wouldn’t go for it.
Most sane take on Starfield I’ve seen on the internet
Ive tried Starfield on SD, tried performance presets and all that and that game looks so bad and runs so bad - stuttering between 10-30fps(bit more in interiors) with pixelated graphics. Big no.
