Trying to connect my Signia Insio 5AX hearing aids with steam deck via bluetooth. I can pair them but they aren’t being recognized as audio devices but as “other devices” only. Is there a possibilty to classify them as audio device so that they will show up in the audio settings?
They are working perfectly on my android phone so I’m pretty confident that it should be possible on Steam Deck.

Thanks for you help!

I have hearing aids. You cannot do this which is stupid as hell. You can connect your phone but not much else.

For how they are made, I guess they could work using the Signia Streamline Mic.

By googling a little i’ve seen that there is a python library for the GATT (Generic ATTribute) protocol that should be able to allow direct connection to the hearing aids. (Not as straightforward as a simple get it and you’re done, most likely like build a server that can connect to the hearing aid, and then expose it as an audio sink).

For how GATT works, (an information taken from this page “The most important thing to keep in mind with GATT and connections is that connections are exclusive.”

If your hearing aid is composed by two earpieces, I (wildly)guess they are intercommunicating between themselves, and the connection works with phones because they do have GATT support as is.

That (costy) piece of hardware available from Signia itself is made so older hardware without complete GATT support can link to it, and that itself then connect to the hearing aid(s).

Your best bet would be to contact Signia itself along with Valve and see if they are interested in cobbling up togheter something, or check if someone having the same hearing aids and is a programmer too has means or will to cobble up something to fill this gap.
