What’s your guess? I’m not convinced 8gb would be sufficient, but I’ve only been using my old macbook pro model running on intel. I normally use it for standard stuffs but I’m learning trading now so I wonder if it’s wiser to go for 16gb since idk what I’d need in the future

    Honestly ram probably isn’t going to be the limiting factor, your more likely to be forced to upgrade by software support expiring. My 2016 mbp lost access to the latest macOS a year ago (but has security updates for another year iirc).

    As for your use case, I don’t know much about trading but the consensus is, most people don’t need more than 8gb, unless they have a specific workload.

    Also be aware that anything with the non pro or max m chips is limited to one external monitor - iirc traders like a lot of them…

    I’d get 16GB. 8 might be enough, but if you get constant memory pressure you’ll do a lot of SSD swapping.
