I’m trying to decide between and steamdeck and a Legion Go. My primary use for it would be emulation and WoW, so I was wondering how well WOW plays on the steam deck and if it chugs at all? I’m replacing an aged laptop at this point but this would be a secondary device for when on the road vs my gaming PC.
I’m interested in the steamdeck for the price and repairability as well as the smoother software experience vs the Go, but I know spec wise the Go is better so trying to figure out if the SD will be sufficient.
Finally, size wise, given the wow install these days is 100+ gigs I am guessing the low end model would not be sufficient for my use case…?
Thanks!
Considering the Deck doesn’t have any problems with neither most emulators nor WoW (I think), you should consider how the trackpads could be a huge QoL, specially in WoW.
Legion may have an edge on some emulators, specially the 360 and PS3 ones, so you have to consider if thats a game changer for you.
Personally, the trackpads are a game changer because they can be used to do so many things with games without proper controller support, so I would go for the Deck.
WoW play perfectly on the deck. I played retail and hardcore.
If you use keyboard and mouse then you won’t see any difference from other computer.
Console port work fine with a few classes but it feel really janky if you’ve played FFXIV before. But it still playable but for healing anything with it
Hardcore with Steam Deck controls, the absolute madman.
Might be reason why I’m not max level yet 🥲
No one uses the low-end model without upgrading the SSD or inserting an SD card
Retail and Classic both run great on the steam deck. I grabbed a compact Mouse and keyboard and Its not much of a difference from my PC
To turn on the WoW gamepad support, you need to type this command into the chat: “/Console GamePadEnable 1“. It will allow you to use your controller if you’ve plugged it in
