With voice messages, why does Apple continue to keep that feature so at the forefront?

the problem is that in Italy (and perhaps in Europe), the percentage of iPhones is similar to Android. This means that a universal messaging system is needed, and imessage is not it. Whatsapp (o Telegram) offers the possibility of sending voice messages which Italians use instead of voicemail. You do not answer? I’ll send you a voicemail! then when you read it…you will answer.

Voice messages as in the iMessage feature? I have never used that and probably never will. I’d call you if I wanted to talk to you.

Voicemail as in the Phone feature is obviously incredibly important to them since Live Voicemail was one of the major features of iOS 17.

Sorry, but I repeat that no one in Italy uses it. Everyone uses Imessage voice messages or, even worse, Whatsapp. And then I wondered if it made sense. Apparently in the USA it is widely used instead!

That seems very unlikely. There are 60 million people in Italy.

Everyone uses Imessage voice messages or, even worse, Whatsapp.

I find it hard to believe that a majority or even a minority of adults are communicating this way.

Not all networks that iPhone supports; support Visual Voicemail, so it’s essential for those networks. Since once again, its all in the name iPhone
