So this is something I used to do with one of my old teams when I worked in the industry, and it was always a huge hit. Every year, we’d do a Steam Secret Santa. It worked as follows:
- in December, participants would fill their wishlist with at least 12 games
- participants would share their Steam IDs with each other, and each of us would draw one ID each
- when the Winter Sale started, we would check our recipient’s wish list and buy them a game from it, to a set maximum value (we used to go for €20, but with the Steam Sale you can easily go less)
- We would set the delivery time for 00:00 on Christmas Day
So what does everyone think? Would this be something you’d be interested in as a community? If there’s enough genuine interest I’d be happy to try and coordinate something using an online service like Elfster.
I would be interested!
It would be cool, but you would have to do different sign ups for different regions, since Steam gifts are region locked I believe.
I’m down for this. I’m in the US
Count me in!
I see some comments regarding possible problems, but I’d be in if those are considered/assuaged.
sounds super cool
I’m in
Steam regional restriction hate the idea
Are there region restrictions for gifting? I didn’t know that.
Depends if you can buy game keys on sites like Instant Gaming instead buying directly on Steam??🤔
This sounds awesome
I’d do it!
This sounds fun.
Sure, I’m down
Sounds very cool
