Color me surprised. I didn’t see this coming in a million years.

They should stop calling it the google graveyard at this point, there is only so many places in a graveyard.

Probably because they are phasing out fitbit in favor of a pixel wearable lineup.

Good thing Garmin exists. I don’t want a shitty pixel smartwatch that lasts 2 days. I literally just have this fitbit for fitness stuff.

From the article: When we published this initially, we found 16 markets in which Fitbit would no longer sell its products. Shortly thereafter, 9to5Google found a separate support page that mentioned the company moving out of even more, including Mexico and all Latin American countries. This means Fitbit has recently removed itself from 29 countries, which is more than half of its previous markets. As of now, Fitbit is only active in 23 countries:

    • The United States
    • Canada
    • Austria
    • Belgium
    • Denmark
    • Germany
    • Ireland
    • Spain
    • Finland
    • Greece
    • France
    • Italy
    • The Netherlands
    • Norway
    • Sweden
    • Switzerland
    • The United Kingdom
    • Australia
    • India
    • Japan

Google is destroying Fitbit. I have an older unit that I’ve worn daily for almost 6 yrs and it works perfectly, then I have friends who bought after the google takeover and their units only last about 18-24 months. Once mine dies I won’t get another due to reliability and mainly because Im concerned of what google might to with the info.

My experience was the opposite. I had 2 Fitbits, both broke down. There’s a huge number of complaints about them.

Translation “we lose money shipping product to these countries so we are stopping the sale of these items there”

Another translation: Fitbit are so unreliable that it’s not worth persisting with them.

What? Google fucking up products after acquiring a company? Say it ain’t so! /s

Google fucks up every company and product it acquires. I’ll be getting out of the Nest ecosystem early next year when my subscription is up, because Google fucked it up.

I gave up on their products. They last just until the warranty runs out and then they expect you to buy a new one from their site with a coupon and it’s still more expensive than Amazon.

Fitbits were shit even 6-8 years ago. Had 4 of the same model over 3 years with the same crap quality. Luckily I was able to order a free replacement but smh so frustrating

Not a big surprise, one of the big reasons Google is less good for hardware in general is that they just ingore a lot of countries.

Even when they are “available” in your country, it can feel like an afterthought. I have pixel buds pro, and I thought I lost one of them. Google told me I couldn’t order a replacement because the colour(key lime green apparently) isn’t available in Denmark, which is bullshit since I bought it in a Danish store.
