Hi there! I’m about to build my first gaming PC and I’ve already got a Core i7 14700k and a MSI MAG Z790 TOMAHAWK WIFI ATX LGA1700 Motherboard but now I’m wondering if its a good idea to get a DDR5 7200 36 GB RAM Kit. I’ve heard of people not being able to sustain these speeds in a stable way even with XMP. Would it be better to get a slower speed and more RAM? If so, what’s a good RAM speed sweet spot. Thanks!!

I’ve found on my z790 msi carbon 14900k, 7200 was pretty easy, just xmp and go, 7400 I had to adjust the voltages as another poster replied, 7600 I can boot but no matter what voltages/loosen timings I cant get it stable. But as others have said on 4 dimm boards over 7000 seems to be hit or miss while I do believe 7200 with the right settings is pretty common to get stable, over that is a crap shoot. Also look into tuning all your timings, a lot of gains to be had.
