Hi all,

I’d like to buy an apple watch for my father, for xmas.
He’d use just to watch the hour (no good at all with tech)
I’d use it to control his O2, heart rythm, blood pressure, localize him with GPS, or notified if some crash is detected (he’s 77)

He has an android, I have a iphone, I was thinking on series 6 GPS+Cellular, is it ok to sync with my iphone? I read it can’t sync with android.

Do you guys has some suggestion on this?

I honestly don’t think an Apple Watch would be a good choice if he’s not already in the Apple ecosystem. Would he be open to switching to an iPhone as well (there are many benefits to you both being on the same system)? If not, I’d consider an equivalent watch that works with Android.

Also, will he be diligent about charging it daily?

don’t know, buy him an iphone 11 or 12 and a watch could be an option but becomes expensive
I’ll check it in the next few weeks if I can save some more money

      thanks!

      Hi, thanks for the repply…
what do you mean, for the age or for the distance from the phone?
I don’t get it what you mean!

If it’s paired to your iPhone with family setup, you can’t use things like blood oxygen, ECG, sleep tracking, etc.
Unless they changed something. Probably someone else knows better than me.

You can set up the watch with am iPhone, they have the kid thing but I’m sure if gives you all the features. If you sync it with your iPhone you might have some hassle

I would suggest a Garmin Vivosmart band for him, or a life alert system. https://www.garmin.com/en-US/p/782585

You are not going to get blood pressure from a watch, but you can buy him a blood pressure cuff that reports to you.

What is it you need most? Would a daily phone call be the better option? I know a few people who call their parent every day to check in.
