Hey everyone, I currently have been working with a 10 year old MacBook Pro which I only use for random work from home days on my VPN. It barely works when used not on my VPN/Remote Desktop and it has to be plugged in or it dies within an hour and takes forever to charge. I’d like to get a new laptop for grad school so I can take it around with me to complete assignments. Any suggestions for a good affordable laptop that I can use for remote work and completing grad school assignments? I do know my grad school would provide Microsoft 365 as part of tuition. No preference really I’m just used to macs but my work desktop is Hp!

Thank you!

    Define affordable?

Best Buy, new or open box Macbooks with 8gb RAM are a joke, and the next step up to 16gb RAM is $1500 - $2500. Apple warranty is shit compared to Windows business laptops from cloners like Dell, HP and Lenovo.

$2500 ThinkPad Yoga X1 Yoga 8th gen with 5 year Premier Support warranty would outclass an Apple Macbook in terms of RAM and warranty, covering accidental (5y) and battery (4y).

$1500 for Macbook Air with 16gb RAM.

Otherwise, ThinkPad X1 Carbon-10th gen with 16gb RAM for ~$1k.

    HP Elitebook or Dell Latitude.

Would recommend just buy NEW and make sure laptop has onsite support so that you don’t have to worry about losing the laptop to mail-in support if something goes wrong.

If you’re penny pinching, any new laptop at Best Buy with 16gb RAM for $500 will suffice, no onsite warranty.

Reliable HP computer if you want great price and business product with extended HP warranty:
