Maybe this is a stupid question, but I’m curious. With the new Steam Deck OLED coming out, if I can manage to get one I am going to gift my current one to my brother. However, my current Steam Deck has a 2TB SSD that I installed into it. If I wanted to swap SSDs between the two of them, would I have to would I have to do the process of redownloading the SteamOS: Steam Deck Image onto both of them, or would simply swapping them be enough?

I removed my SSD before rma, and reinstalled as soon as new one arrived and it worked fine. Might have issues with drivers on new version tho. Noone can know till they try

From the «Maintaining a fleet of Linux PCs» point of view, it will work. Hardware quirks are detected during boot-up, the OS image will be the same and compatible with both models driver-wise.

I didn’t replace my Deck’s SSD, but I could just clone my current SSD (using Clonezilla or something) and then restore the clone to the new Deck’s SSD (I think)
