I’d like to use my old iPhone 7 to play music on a stereo system. The battery is essentially shot at 60% health, but the phone would just be kept stationary as a music player - it would be more convenient just to keep it plugged in.
My only concern is that leaving the phone plugged in could cause the battery to swell up. Is this likely to happen? Otherwise, I don’t care about the battery health degrading for my use case.
The battery is going to be more likely to expand due to constant charging. If you know anyone who works in a cell phone store with live demos they can attest to that.
I’ve seen flagship devices expand within a few months thanks to being constantly connected to chargers 24/7. (Makes me wish we could just go back to dummy devices as live demos are such a waste of resources.)
Ah ok, guess I won’t then.
Interesting to hear, when I think about it live demos are pretty pointless… wasting a bunch of new devices with 24/7 animations because… it looks cool?
