Hello Reddit.

I currently have an S20 FE, and while I wouldn’t say it’s a bad phone, it definitely felt more like a sidegrade from the Note 8 rather than an upgrade. The 120 Hz screen was nice, but every other change felt marginally better if not a downgrade (although things like no headphone jack are a norm now anyway).

After learning recently that the S20 FE is on its last Android update and maybe a year more of security updates, I’d like to upgrade. Since BF is coming soon, I figured I’d wait for the high end flagship 1 or 2 years back, since they’re much cheaper while probably surpassing midrange phones of the current year. And after checking Samsung’s website, I could trade in my S20 FE for $400 credit, but the options available seem to involve spending $600+ for an Ultra device after credit is applied.

What would be your recommendations? I’m eyeing a refurb excellent condition S21 Ultra for ~370 and waiting to see BF prices, but if people have recs on the value of a newer device for the money, I am open to suggestions. Thanks!

I think when spending 600$ for an Ultra device is too much, then you shoule consider the A-series instead of an S21U, which btw receives its last android update next year.

With the current A54 you’re good to go for many years and the battery life is significantly better than on a refurbished S21U.

The only reason I’d go for the S21U in your case, is when you really need a good camera.
