Hey,

I am thinking about buying the upcoming PS Remote Portal to play PS while my wife is watching TV.

With the announcement of the SteamDeck OLED, I am wondering whether this device would be even better, although it comes at more than twice the price.

From your experience with the current SteamDeck, what is the average battery life playing PlayStation Remote? And do you face any slowdowns/lags/problems as PS Remote is not available natively but via Chiaki?

Thanks and best

Thanks for your answers! 5-6hrs sounds already very promising. Guess I will give it a try with both and will have a look, which I will keep. Need to see anyway whether I will get a Deck or whether it is sold out immediately

I get 5-6 hours from full charge when using chiaki4deck. I set TDP to 3 watts and the deck runs nice and cool. In fact, I’ve not managed to drain the battery on a single play session. I only get to game in evenings, so I have about 5 hours before I’m falling asleep.

In saying that, I’ve pre-ordered the portal and really looking forward to it. The bigger screen plus actual DualSense controls and haptics will be a major upgrade in the remote play. Also having a dedicated unit that you can just pick up and play PS5 games without all the fussing about with launching chiaki etc will be great.

They are different devices and serve different purposes. If I’m heading away somewhere I’d take my deck. The portal will only be used at home.
