IMO, legion Go is still better due to its large 8.8 inch QHD display, high refresh rate 144 hz and more importantly GPU - Z1 extreme ( around 8 Tflops compared to steam deck with just 1.6 Tflops)
I had a Deck for 18 months before giving it away, the Ally still since June and got the Go last Friday. That 8.8" 2560x1600 screen is very impressive. The Deck will have better color and contrast but with only two thirds the pixel density and a quarter the resolution. HDR OLED on the new Deck is great but not great enough to overcome all of the advantages of the Go’s screen.
Does it have a replaceable battery?
I was just thinking about picking one up not long ago for some FFXIV on the go. Glad I ended up holding off on that!
Anyone know which game is displayed in the image?
Tribes of Midgard
Don’t suppose I can just buy the screen? …
Valve has said that the old deck models are not compatible for just the screen
🥲
Since this update also includes a different CPU (6nm vs 7) and a bigger battery (50wh vs 40) it might not fit.
Too early to tell, but probably not as they did a lot to the inside
No but DeckHD makes an OLED retrofit for the LCD model
https://store.deckhd.com/products/deckhd-screen-upgrade-kit-for-steam-deck
It also improves performance because of its ram frequency increase
What are the specs? The link is paywalled.
And still, us here in Australia can go fuck ourselves.
What do you think guys will you consume the new product

Is this the line to point out it’s not a PC?
No.
It is a PC.
r/confidentlyincorrect
Honestly worth it though? I have a switch already that I barely use since games nowadays are pretty bad. Steam deck would be nice to bring for weekend at parents.
Can you only play steam games on it?
Games are bad? I can think of quite a few great switch games this year
Games these days??? 2023 has been the strongest year for games in many many years! So many generation defining games have dropped this year
What generation defining games have dropped this year in your opinion?
Only steam games?
Are you worried about the small selection?
It’s all use case dependent. It natively runs SteamOS/Linux, so out of the box yes - you can only play Steam games. Work is required to run other storefronts/software.
While the deck is impressive, and the new one even more so with the battery and power consumption improvements, it shines the most when playing smaller/indie titles that don’t take much to run.
There are competing devices from Lenovo, ASUS and GPD that run Windows so if you’re looking for a more familiar and ready to use experience, those might be better for your use case - though those devices sacrifice battery life for performance and power.
It’s a handheld, not a PC.
You can literally connect it to the monitor, mouse and keyboard and use Windows on it.
I’m not upset that I got a 64 gig model. Not at all. :')
I like the Oled update. I’m still holding out for a bigger internal spec bump though 🥲
