In this video, the uploader claims that the etched screen of the 1TB OLED will cause a problem with producing the right colors. Furthermore, they claim that adding a screen protector will mitigate said issues.

Can anyone weigh in on just how much of a problem this might be? I want to get the new high end OLED but I’m feeling kind of unsure with this talk about the matte screen with OLED.

Yes it’ll, that’s how anti reflective displays work. Get the glossy if you care about colors and brightness unless you somehow have a searing light pointed at the device at all times lol.

I expect this will be a huge discussion point for a while. Keep in mind everyone who answers here, and in fact Dave himself, are just offering OPINIONS.

Ultimately everyone will perceive the anti etch OLED differently and there will be quite a lot of buzz about it washing out the screen.

I’ve had my 512gb LCD with anti-glare etched screen for over a year and have zero complaints. There are times I would have been miserable gaming with a glossy screen as I get medical infusions in a brightly lit hospital and the glare is unavoidable.

My OPINION is that I’m very happy with LCD anti-glare, and the OLED anti-glare will be even better. If I want to I can just put a glossy screen protector on my device.

There are also OPINIONS out there that the LCD screen is miserable and unusable and has horrible colors. Those are fine opinions to have but I’ve happily completed around 40 games from my backlog on my deck without any issues.
