I have a mid 2019 intel i5 13" 128gb that l’ve been using for almost 4.5 years now. I mostly use it for photo and video editing (Raw files and footage from my drone). It still works fine but the battery probably only lasts 1-2 hours which is why I pretty much always use it plugged in. I was thinking of getting the 14" base M3 pro model with the unbinned chip and hoping that the smaller form factor wouldn’t be too small as it does seem more comfortable to carry around.

Does your current laptop hinder your performance (slow, bad battery etc). If the answer is no then it’s not worth upgrading.

If yes and your workload is struggling then absolutely it’s worth the upgrade.

Yes it does hinder my work. When editing photos moving the sliders to change colour and saturation the effect take about 20 seconds to show and ai noise reduction takes like 20 mins 😭

you should upgrade, only because you want it, dont need to justify it, just buy it and enjoy

And obviously it will be faster and better because it’s new, I just recently upgraded from a 2017 laptop to this years model and though it wasn’t necessary I dont regret my purchase, I love it

It’s definitely worth the upgrade, however I do recommend spending the additional money to get the 16gb over the base model.

It’s a massive upgrade over what you have now both in terms of performance and battery life.
