Hey guys, I’m a little ashamed to ask for help about what in a beginning seemed like a fairly easy task. I’m sure it is simple and somebody will be able to explain it with apples for me but.

I have tried multiple times and I’m ready to ask for help.

So I use steam deck as a console most of the time, using a dock to my tv and using a gamepad from the couch.

So I know I have pretty much complete control over the configuration of the game pad for games and the steam os interface.

What I want is to press “select” and then use the direction bottoms to to get to volume up or down.

Is this something possible if so how the hell do you make it work?

The easy way to change the volume would be to bring up the quick access menu with Steam+A (or button equivalents).

The way you would like has to be set up for each game that you want to use it with.

    • In the Controller Settings for a game go to the DPad section and click the gear icon next to the direction you want to edit and select Add extra command.
    • Go to SYSTEM and select the Volume Key you want.
    • Now click the gear next to the newly added key and change Regular Press to Button Chord.
    • Then click the same gear again but this time click on Settings and choose the Chord Button from the drop-down list (I think select is the View Button).
    • Finally repeat for the other volume key.
