It’s a meme post, But I take this opportunity to ask, why do so many people feel dissatisfied with the release of the OLED steam deck? Of the 6 friends who I know have a steam deck, about 4 have complained about the release of the steam deck since they feel cheated by valve, and If they had known, they would have waited to buy the OLED, but they bought the Steam Deck like 6 MONTHS TO 1 YEAR AGO, don’t get me wrong, the OLED is GOD tier but I don’t see it as something to get angry about considering that you’ve been around for more than 6 months using it before the OLED announcement, i’m happy with my Steam Deck and will be until Steam Deck 2 got Released
During covid the prices of graphics cards went up, so now people buy consumer electronics as investments
I’m a little cheesed about it. Got my 512gb during the summer sale (right at the end of it). Had I known that about 3 months later a new deck that fixes all my nitpicks was going to come out, for the same price/cheaper, I definitely would have waited.
I do believe I will look to sell my current one and grab the OLED as literally every improvement they made is what I would have wanted out of it (larger ssd, OLED, wifi 6, better battery, cooler/less noisy). The issue is since they also announced the price decrease of the old ones it’ll be tough trying to recoup some of the cost.
It’s just a matter of if valve announced it earlier, consumers could have planned better for this revision.
I’m incredibly happy with the steam deck, but the reason I waited was I couldn’t justify spending the money on something that didn’t hit everything on the checklist (hence why I waited until it was 20% off). Knowing I could have got it at the same price with everything on my checklist a few months later does sting a bit.
I don’t really care
I dunno. As someone who lives in a country that Valve doesn’t officially distribute the Deck, who bought the 64gb version for a very inflated price just to see it drop a couple weeks later, I’m just happy to have my OG Steam Deck.
Im not financially struggling, by any stretch of the imagination, but I’m not about to splurge on the same handheld twice just for a better screen and like 5% more frames.
