I was already tempted by the Steam deck, but now even more so with the OLED screen and limited edition version (I’m old enough to have owned transparent Xbox/Gameboy, etc)
My issue is whether or not it’s actually any good at playing games. Nearly $1,000 CAD after tax is a lot of money to pay for something if it’s unable to hit 60 FPS on games, even when settings are set to low.
If I can’t live with 30 FPS, am I restricted to playing indie games on it, or really old AAA games?
And just in case anyone comments with “30 FPS is fine for [insert example]” I’m one of those who really can’t stomach it. I have a 160 Hz monitor, a 120 Hz TV, and even my phone is 90 Hz, so whenever I try to play an old game on my Xbox at 30 FPS it’s just too jarring for me to be able to enjoy it.
