After several months of lurking on this subreddit, i finally purchased a Steam Deck because I’ve always preferred playing games on the go. I plan on using the Steam Deck mainly for emulation, particularly Nintendo and PS2 games, and i am wondering which way of emulating games suits me best.

I’m curious about the best way to get started. I’ve come across various methods, such as using emudeck or standalone emulators, but I’m uncertain about what would be the best fit for me. I’d like to have a menu where I can organize my emulated games into different console categories, with features like thumbnails or game information if that’s even possible. Basically I’m looking for a self-contained Steam library but with emulated games instead of Steam games. I prefer keeping the emulated games separate from my regular Steam library to avoid clutter.

Is there anybody who could tell me if it is possible to get a menu like this, and will i have enough customization options to get smooth gameplay for my ROMs? Any advice or insights would be greatly appreciated

I got my steam deck for emulation primarily.

I have been using Emudeck for a year on my steam deck and it’s so simple to set up . I recommend it
