When I was 16 I bought that MacBook and I put a bunch of random stickers on it. I took them off today and they left this residue… how can I get it off without damaging the finish?
google “how to get sticker residue off of something” and stop being so lazy
Well I got the actual adhesive off with rubbing alcohol but you can still see where the stickers “stained” it if that makes sense… rubbing alcohol isn’t getting that off so I didn’t know if I just keep applying more or if that’s just damage
It’s probably stuck that way. The sticker covered surface either hasn’t “aged” like the uncovered part or the adhesive caused some reaction that changed the finish. If it’s flush and you can’t feel a residue remaining, then you’re probably stuck with it.
That’s what I’m thinking too :( oh well thanks
oh my bad, sorry. I think it would’ve been helpful to know that though. i think the other guy is right, the metal has “aged” or gotten a sort of patina on it and it just hasn’t done that where the stickers were so i think it might be stuck like that sorry pal
Elbow grease (the cleaning product), a microfiber cloth and get scrubbing
WD-40 after that, clean it off with isopropyl alcohol
seconded
Just the alcohol is more then enough. Besides the WD-40 can do more harm than good…
Oh man I. Was just thinking of putting stickers on mine! Instead of a plastic case because I’m worried about the tabs on it breaking the screen if my cat sits on the closed laptop.
Any suggestions on how to put stickers on with wreaking it? Will op be able to clean this all off?
In german it‘s called NITROVERDÜNNUNG
Your best bet would be got get some 90% isopropyl alcohol (pharmacies should have it) or higher percent if possible. Carefully apply a small amount on the resude and then (again carefully) rub with a soft cloth.
This should allow you to remove the residue without scratching the anodized surface.
I soaked paper towels in vinegar and isopropyl, let it rest on top, then wipe and repeat
Alcohol
Don’t put stickers in the first place
I use hand sanitizer. Drop a bunch on the top, let it loosen the residue, then wipe it off with a paper towel
I had the same issue, you can never get rid of the actual imprint, that’s there forever unfortunately.
Magic eraser
wd40
get painters wipes, they use goo gone, and will take this off .

ive never used the bottom ones as the painters wipes work so well never needed anything else
Tea Tree oil. Works like a charm.
