I just downloaded 10.1 in order to try out the new double tap feature. I would’ve assumed that the double tap feature would be something that would be available whenever, whether the screen was awake or not. However, it’s only working for me when my screen is on, which defeats the purpose for me. I don’t have “raise to wake” on and I don’t want to, either, because of battery life. The whole point of me buying a Series 9 was to be able to use it in situations such as washing the dishes and I don’t want to touch my watch.

I’m not mistaken, right? Has anyone else ha had it work while the screen is off?

How do you know what you’re acknowledging without the screen on? Sounds like it’s working exactly as designed.

If you have music or a podcast playing, it should pause/play. I could see not having other features active but this seems intuitive if you have something with pause/play features running in the background.

Currently it’s pretty limited and only works when the screen is active. I’d like to see an option to “wake on double tap” … we’ll see.

In the time being the nose may still be needed to activate the display in some situations.
