    I don’t get this argument. Playstation 3, 4, and 5, have ALWAYS had their disc drives married to the motherboard by way of software locking. You couldn’t ever swap them for use on other machines, there’s a unique code for each pair.

    This is no different. You buy a disc drive, pair it to your PS5, and it’s just like every other PS5 already out there then. Unless I’m mistaken, and this now requires continual online authentication or something?
