My mom’s iPhone got stolen while she was out shopping, Find My iPhone is enabled but we’re stuck because:
-
She doesn’t remember her Apple ID
-
The linked gmail address has 2FA
-
Email does not have an alternative backup option enabled
What’s the best bet to try and find it?
My sisters phone got stolen 2 weeks ago, more than likely they turned it off so you won’t be able to track it anyway. If you try calling and it doesn’t ring they most likely just ended up turning it off and probably going to sell it for parts.
Wrong. Apple has the option called “find my network” but that works when bluetooth and WIFI/Data are both on, so when the device is shut down it can be trackable and put on lost mode. Everytime i go out i ALWAYS left my data on and bluetooth and lock my phone, because one time my phone was stolen.
This appears at the bottom of the slider when the location, find my network, bluetooth and wifi/data are all on.
Its enabled by default, also i highly recommend to turn on the last option too. Read to see what this option does.
Without being able to log in to the account you can’t. Not with “Find my …”.
Unfortunately with those barriers you won’t be able to find it. Hopefully you can get a replacement phone soon and to prevent this in the future make sure she remembers her Apple ID info or have it written down somewhere safe at home to hopefully track the phone but even then a stolen phone is likely gone for good.
To reduce the chances of her new phone from getting stolen in the future make sure she keeps it secured in a bag or purse and well attached to her person. Some criminals are so brazen they will even snatch phone out of a persons hand depending on the area.
The snatch has happened to me once. And from then my phone on pocked always locked with custom password.
How many hours before it was stolen?
Was stolen around 8 hours ago
Act fast and go to your ISP and report the IMEI/IMEID or IMEI2 number of the stolen device, and they will blacklist it. If you dont remember the IMEI number its on the back of the box from the stolen phone.
Yes we are going to do this. Seems unlikely that we’ll be able to get it back
