I was litteraly about to buy a 64gb steam deck for 350 pounds (427 dollars) this weekend, but then the steam deck oled came around. Im pretty sure its region locked at least initially to US and Canada, and as someone who doesnt care a ridiculous amount about the contrast of a screen, the price drop on the 512gb of nearly half is just perfect. Only 40 pounds more for more than 5x the storage, a cooler carrying case, and an anti-glare screen is a great deal. I plan to be playing outside a lot, and also was planning to upgrade the storage. basically now I’ve saved myself having to buy an additional sd card and anti-glare screen protector. I might pick up the new steam deck when it does come out, but for me, the 512gb is the perfect deal.
If you’re considering buying the new steam deck why would you buy the lcd right now? Unless I misunderstood and you meant the steam deck 2, shouldn’t you just save your money and get the oled later?
Because 1. i am litteraly desperate for this thing and it wont be available in the UK for probably a few months and 2. I am pretty broke so ill take the exact same specs except an oled screen (but with anti-glare glass included) for 100 pounds less.
