    Some games that i play on my 13900kf the cpu only pulling 45watts… playing on ultra wide

    Undervolting is the way to go. The clocks are so high that unless you’re running a 4090 at 720/1080P, overclocking or letting the PL run unlimited is not worth it.

    I was able to get my 14700K stable at 1.19V at stock 5.5/4.3. Great performance and I can keep it under 80C.

    My 14700K can do 5.7 all core at 1.31V and 5.8 at 1.37V. Huge jump in voltage and heat so 5.7P/5.0Ring/4.4E at 1.31V under load is about as far as I would want to go before going into crazy wattage/heat for minimal gains and flexing a higher clock.

      How the hell does it go over 80 in gaming without any undervolt? A 14900k runs bellow 65 that without needing undervolt. 4090 here.

        under 80C at full 265-270W load. Gaming loads only get up to 120W max in games like Cyberpunk, less depending on the game @ 5.5/4.3 at 1.19V which is 40-50C

        Something not a lot people realize is this depends on your ram.

        At all stock bios and DDR4 ram set to 2666, my cinebench temps are low 80s, so gaming would be as you mentioned 65.

        With 4300 G1 set, cinebench temps go up to 95c, but gaming is still 72c average, 82 max. the same happens with DDR5 or DDR4 when activating XMP, and likely worse because the auto ram voltages will be set too high on auto.

    It says in his description the test system gpu used was a 3070ti.

        Very GPU limited compared to what though? 0.001% of people that can afford something faster? 3070 Ti is way more representative than a 4090.

          But how many people will be running a 14700k with one? An i5 is more reasonable.

          You are missing the point. Ofc the 14700k can be power limited way down when its a heavily 1440p gpu limited scenario. Well duh! So can lots of other cpus too.

    HUB or GN (I forget who) limited the 14900K to 80w to match the typical gaming load of the 7950X3D and it got absolutely stomped.

      I’m doing most games on 80W-100W on my 14900k (combined with 3080Ti at 3840x1600). And that’s with powerlimits of 253W.

      Red Dead Redemption 2, Battlefield, Cities Skylines. It’s a non-issue.
