I have the Tomtoc case and I like it a lot, can definitely recommend. I carry the deck around in a sling bag together with my laptop and other accessories, and the stock case is simply unecessarily bulky for those purposes.
For the slimmer protective cases with a hard cover front I recommend using the Jsaux mod case. It’s cheaper than something like the killswitch while providing the same features like a kickstand and separate attachments.
There has been before yes. TomToc made one, and there are others I think. That is probably part of the reason Valve did that or got the idea from.
