Thinking about making the leap into the new Oled Steam deck. I have the 4080 tier on geforce now. Is there an official app yet? Or do you have to go through a ton of steps to Jimmy Rig it? I’m NOT super tech savvy. Thanks in advance.
I used https://github.com/moraroy/NonSteamLaunchers-On-Steam-Deck and it took about 5 minutes to set up. 100% recommend doing it this way over the others
Moonlight works perfectly
This is for inhome streaming from your own PC, not GeForce Now (which is something different). AFAIK the only possible way to use GeForce now is through a browser, which has some drawbacks.
It is pretty easy to use GeForce now on the steam deck, I did it from the chrome browser where you just add chrome to your library and then use the konsole command to be able to use the controls (you only have to do this once). It worked like a charm.
I followed this guide https://www.gamesinhand.com/post/how-to-play-geforce-now-on-steam-deck
If one is going the chrome way I actually found this one a little easier and less buggy: (1) The ONLY CORRECT way to setup GeForceNOW! [Works with Steam Deck] - YouTube
Ended up going with heroic in the end, but could see some folks preferring an app just dedicated to geforce now
If you have an RTX graphics card moonlight is very very simple. Currently moonlight is still supported under the name game streaming in the GeForce now experience. It is so easy. Forget about that sunshine nonsense until you have no choice.
My sorry ass has been on the hook to make a video for this but I keep getting distracted by shiny OLED things.
I’ll try to get off my ass in the next couple of days and finish that video up it’s mostly done. You’ll be amazed at just how easy it is.
