I’ve been needing to upgrade my CPU and was thinking of a 14700k. I’m currently using a ID-Cooling ZoomFlow 360 XT 360mm to cool my 12600kf with no issues and was wondering if that would still be fine for the 14700k? What are peoples thoughts? Thanks.
Really depends on the motherboard settings for the CPU. Intel’s defaults are 125W to 253W of power to remove but some manufactureres have set the power limits to unlimited so that cooling is the only thing keeping the CPU below thermal throttling limits.
The 12600KF has a power default settings of 125W to 150W as comparison numbers.
You would want another radiator help dump the extra 100W of heat otherwise its high cooling temperatures. Other items are to think about your tubing materials. Some get soft at 60C.
Yeah. That would be me. Unlimited power Sounds like a good idea but isn’t necessarily the best. Even with a 360 AIO in push/pull config, my CPU has a tendency to get toasty. I ha e to ramp my fans up a little bit earlier than I’d like to under specific workloads. I’m thinking about a custom loop but really don’t want to go through the hassle for the extra few degrees I need.
