I’m not very experienced with computer parts and so on so I decided to ask you guys, I have a Intel core i7-4790 and was looking for a upgrade because a lot of newer games are stuttering for me and I check my usage on task manager and I’m assuming it’s my CPU causing it due to it almost being at 100% usage. I’m wanting to stick with Intel but wanting a more affordable upgrade but will last me another 4 years like my current one has.
Something like an i5 12400 will be a massive upgrade. You’ll obviously have to upgrade your motherboard and RAM.
That was the best CPU for your motherboard socket. So upgrading the CPU will mean a new motherboard and possibly new RAM depending on how new you go. As far as specifics go, any midrange new Intel or AMD will be a big improvement.
A 12100/13100/12400 with 16 to 32GB DDR4 Ram and a cheaper B660/B760 motherboard should do the trick (assuming you are recycling the rest of the parts).
That’s exactly what I’m doing basically lmao, now I’m trying to figure out how to build the PC myself because the people around me are charging 200$ just to add the parts and everything. I don’t got the parts yet but plan on getting them in December
