Id like to get my wife a steam deck for Xmas but All that appears to be left of the original steam deck is the 256gb. Anyone have insight as to whether this would be enough? She likes cyberpunk, RDR2, and Control.

Should I just shoot for a higher capacity OLED when they’re released?

I think RSR2 and Cyberpunk would fill it up if they fit at all. I had to buy a 1TB sd card. Almost impossible to find now (at least where I live)

256gb is good. Just put a good sd card in it for added space. Or you can wait a couple if days and try to get the new oled model!

I got the 256 gb version 4 month ago. Thinking it would be ok and I just extend it with SD cards. But in reality these are expensive too and much slower in terms of loading times etc. So I swapped the internal SSD with a 2tb SSD and finally I don’t need to uninstall and move around games every week. So I strongly recommend going for 512 gb (OLED), or buy the 256 and swap the SSD.

I think getting the OLED is a no-brainer unless your budget is severely limited. It is just so much better, besides the screen also in AAA gaming battery life.

The easiest way to find out if all these games fit on the internal SSD simultaneously is to add up the minimum disk space requirements from the Steam store page

Cyberpunk 2077: 70 GB (+35 GB for the Phantom Liberty DLC)
    RDR2: 150 GB
    Control: 42 GB

Total: 262 GB (297 GB with CP2077 DLC)

So obviously these games won’t fit in a 256 GB model, you need 512 GB.

Okay, now hear me out. Don’t buy the 256 or 500 one. Buy the 64 gb one and then buy 1tb micro sd card for 100 eur/dollar (idk). I did it, and it’s worth it.

It depends on user’s habits. I have a 256gb for a year and so far I haven’t considered an ssd upgrade, because I have literally too much space (rn I have 8 titles installed, only play one of them, and still have half of ssd free. And that’s not counting emulators and roms). And some people install 1TB ssd and still add microSD card, because obviously 1TB is not enough for them.
