Hi, I have an og steam deck and kinda on the fance regarding upgrading.

I mostly play visual novel, jrpg and old AAA (usually targeting under 12wh total baterry drain on the original steam deck). Also moonlight to normal PC for the more demanding games (which is why ally never picked my interest)

After the release of the lenovo legion go I started craving it - I mean 8.8 inch 1600p 99% sRGB and display seemed like a dream, although battery life really sucjs on that one.

But now steam deck OLED reignited the craving… Oled display with 9hr battery is really something I want…

But is there a point in upgrading to either of them? Or is the old SD offers mostly the same experience?

Their pricing in my region is mostly the same (thanks to lenovo having the official presents) and either is kinda really high, but it is something I can afford myself to spurge on once a year - but is there a point in upgrading this year? Is it really as awesome as the reviews leads me to believe?

The OLED SD looks amazing, but I don’t know if it’s worth it if you already have the original, you don’t get any significant performance boost. If you feel your Deck isn’t enough for what you’re playing, the Ally or Legion Go is a worthwhile upgrade, you get better performances, better screen and a smaller device, but if you’re fine with the current performance, I find it difficult to justify buying a brand new device, no matter how good the new screen looks (but then again, I didn’t buy the OLED Switch because I already had the original, while a lot of people said it was really worth it, maybe I’m just cheap).
