I have owned both, and I much prefer the etched glass. Talk of it degrading the image quality is entirely overblown.
Btw what anime is that?
Violet Evergarden IIRC
I remember trying to watch it when it was on Netflix but couldn’t keep up with it. Would you recommend it?
Had the 512GB and really didn’t mind anything about the glass. That said am going with glossy for OLED since I want it to look just like the SWOLED.
Swol OLED. SWOLED. I love it.
All these people getting the limited editions are gonna be disappointed when they switch to hall sticks and lose the red
or just… put the cap on the sensor… have you even done the switch? XD
What percentage of owners do you think are replacing their sticks?
If you wait till February they will definitely have more limited edition colors. The scalpers will buy up everything in like 20mins showing valve there is a market for Limited Editions
I’m shocked by how many people are being swayed by Dave2D’s video. After reading all the discourse, I took out my Switch OLED and 512 Steam Deck in my apartment during a sunny day. The etched glass was by far superior - the OLED was just a reflection of my face. While it won’t be the absolute blackest blacks, it will be damn close and at least remove any distracting reflections. Also playing at night will let me see the pure OLED experience
I don’t think anyone’s doubting it’s effect on a bright sunny day. It’s more of an evening setting with a corner lamp I’m curious about or w very dark room, does the etched even catch light or is it basically super black in these conditions?
I’m actually more curious if the casing has any texture like the original. That would be the biggest deal breaker for me.
i saw a review where they put a screen protector on the etched OLED- looked pretty much the same as the non-etched at that point.
I’m torn, like the limited edition but the extra $$ plus the etched glass making the OLED look washed out . . . . might just go for the normal glossy screen and save some money this time. You can DIY. Buy the limited edition one and install a replacement screen.
