Got a question surrounding Windows on Steam. I’m perfectly fine running most of my game library from Steam (I have game pass, but could always purchase those games on Steam and downgrade my subscription), with the exception of one game that doesn’t play well on Linux: Call of Duty Modern Warefare 2 and 3.
I currently own a Legion Go, and it’s been fine overall, where I’ve been able to tinker with it enough to make it “Steam deck” equivalent. To that end, however, all of the performance metrics that it seems to go through (worrying about TDPs) tends to make the device a little warmer than I’d care for, the ergonomics are just slightly worse than the LCD Steam I owned for a short time (I have big hands), and the windows driver issues are a real thing on a full fledged windows handheld.
That said, if I wanted to dual boot (is that the preferred way?) and have windows on the new oled Steam deck just for MW, and Steam for everything else, what’s that workflow experience like? Does it make the Steams “console-like” experience any less?
Also, I’ve seen quite a few “tutorials” online for how to get windows on the steam deck. Is there a universally accepted step process that someone can point me to? Also finally, is having windows on the steam deck a worthwhile experience for those who have it? Would love feedback on this as I consider returning the Go and grabbing the Oled steam deck this week.
