I have been away from gaming for quite some time, due to lack of time and energy after work.

I have just recently been familiar that the Steam Deck existed, which intrigued me.

The same day they released the OLED version, I almost bought a used one.

The thing is, I can buy a LCD version with 512 GB for about 300 Euro from a friend. And I am not enough of a tech guy to know if the OLED version would do me so much better.

Would I be much better settled with the OLED? Can the 269 Euro more be justified in the case of buying a used versus new?

Or am I buying into a version that will be out of support sooner, if I am going with the “old” one?

You came to the game at the right time. This hardware refresh fixes the original major issues with the LCD Deck being the screen and the battery. In addition to a tonne of other improvements. Basically everything except performance has been beefed (fan noise, cooling, etc) Which essentially makes it a Steam Deck 1.5.

I personally believe you should pick up an OLED.
