After the RTX 30-series insta-sellout shenanigans, I can’t help but wonder what is the best place to be ready at 10am PST on Thursday, the Steam store app or the browser? What’s your plan? In the browser you can Ctrl+shift+R to do a full refresh at 10am on the dot, but I don’t know if the steam app page is subscribed to updates from the server and will show the add to cart button while you’re looking at it, or will require backing out of the page or reloading the store? On the other hand, do you think the Steam App is less likely to crash from a high influx of traffic than the website? I know this sounds like absolute crazy talk, but the 30 series launch traumatized a lot of us into feeling like we need to be ready to add to cart and check out in under ten seconds. Curious what everyone’s plan is.

The app is still loading the same website, if the website (and so the steam store) crashes or has issues, you’re going to experience it everywhere! You shouldn’t worry about being first, if it does sell out you’re not locked away like with nvidia and have to fight to be first the next stock, you just wait in line with a queue FIFO. I don’t have a plan and I don’t think you should have one or stress out over it.
